Grown Below arose from the ashes of Timer in early 2011, continuing the path to the full album The Long Now with the same sound, but more evolved. Grown Below may be influenced by the usual suspects (Cult of Luna, Isis, Tool etc.) but they certainly go beyond being mere epigones. Further evolution of Quietly, this album took that beauty and harshness to new levels. The more pronounced 'gang' vocals cut deep with honesty and true emotion. Sadly, when I sing along I just sound like a dying cat who has spent too many years strung out on catnip. Good reason to listen to this loud.

This review is long overdue. This album right here is the album that finally pulled me out of the "commercial" music world and into the world of the raw, experimental, and sincere. An amalgamation of everything I love about post-metal and hardcore taken to a mathy, heavy, ambient extreme.
